Club Tropicana Drinks Are Free

I watched that George Michael documentary last night on BBC 1, and what a corker it was!! I have always been a bit of a fan, I bought the greatest hits anyway, but he has gone up so much in my estimation.

One thing in particular that impressed me related to his performance at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium in 1992. Now as a Queen fan I have seen this performance many times and had always considered his performance to be probably the best of the night...he blew everyone else away that day. But I am even more impressed now I know what was going on in his life at that moment. There he was performing at a concert that was not only a celebration of Freddie Mercury's life and music but was equally about raising awareness of AIDS and at that exact same time he was dealing with the fact that his boyfriend was dying of AIDS and he wasn't sure if he had it either!! To be dealing with that and to give such an uplifiting and powerful performance like that is just staggering!!

And one other thing...

It's not normal is it for the people whobought your house off you a year and a half ago to travel for 20 minutes jsut to bring you junk mail and ask how to turn the hot water off? No it isn't. So why did I think it was a good idea to invite them in while I tried to rememeber and then make them a cup of tea?! I don't think I am normal.... might have frightened them away though. Apparently they feel they should bring our post becasue they feel some kind of loyalty to us?! What?! We sold you a house..... where is the need for loyalty? Apparently they had been trying to catch us for months but we are never in............ good god help!!!!!!

Stop messing with me....

So this weekend...well starting Friday morning when I set out for work I noticed that the tub with plants in outside our front door had been kicked over. I picked it up and pushed the soil back in, locked the front door and walked around the car to go to work, only to fine a 3-4 foot fir tree on the drive?! So not having a great lot of time to ponder what exactly to do with a tree that is not yours but is on your property in unexplained circumstances, I picked it up and flung it on the lawn, so that I could get to work in something resembling a reasonable hour.

I reversed off the drive ad set off down the street noticing broken plant pots in the road (as a good driver probably should?!), I though, ah that'll be where it is from I will pop round tonight if they haven't already claimed it back. Anyway, got home tree still there, Andrew had put it in a spare pot out of the garage to protect the root (after I flung it on the lawn in the morning, ooops). So I went round to the house and explained that I assumed it was theirs what with the broken pots and that they could come and get it if the wanted it (typing that it sounds as if I was slightly rude, I wasn't). The bloke didn't know if it was his tree, frankly he was a little docile, he said that they did have a tree but theirs was in a pot?! Hmm. I'm thinking not too difficult to remove a tree from a pot, that doesn't make it a different tree. I left it.

We went to bed and I got up on Saturday morning to find that the tree had gone, and the pot remained. Which obviously is good, you may think, but no. The pot was still there but it had a different plant in it that had clearly been ripped out of next door's garden. Anyway I just left it there all day trying not to acknowledge it in public. I have to admit I did find it extremely amusing. Not sure I would be if it was my plant that had been ripped out though. Anyway we left the plant there all day and over night. The next morning I had to be up extremely early so I went out and put the plant back in its rightful place and took the pot away. No more plants have appeared.

Now I know you are wondering what happened to the tree, or like me you might not care as long as it is nothing to do with you anymore. Apparently, according to my other neighbour it was seen on top of someone’s car…. Glad that wasn’t me. I hate cleaning my car.

We Are The Champions

Yey!! We won our local pub quiz last week!!

Our team, called "Go You Big Red Fire Engine" after going to see the fantastic Adam Hills live the previous weekend, trounced all comers with a truly team effort. For example these were the sort of things that people knew:

Ann knew that the character "Squeek" in Toy Story was a penguin
Julie knew that the song "Good Morning Britain" was by Deacon Blue
I knew the album covers for the picture round
Joll knew the lyrics to Ronan Keating's "Life Is A Rollercoaster"!! Tee Hee!! He probably won't thank me for revealing that!!

We were all quite pleased to get one question wrong...in the lyrics round none of us knew that one of the supplied lyrics was from a Simply Red song...see we're all cool!! Except Joll...he loves Ronan!!

Blubbin' like a bitch.

Just watched the last episode of the OC from last night. Jesus I was/am a crier. So some of you will be thinking... stating the obvious slightly... although going off the comments there aren't many of you to be thinking anything. Surely it isn't just me who thinks that is not the way it was supposed to end!? Really though... didn't you think that they were going to turn around and go back and live happily even after in a flat funded by the Cohens? That Marissa maybe wouldn't have had to move in with her Mam. I am left with one question though...where was Seth going? Now I know I am stupid but, he left notes so must have been going somewhere. I think that I cried so much because I can't bear to watch blokes get upset. Ryan with tears in his eyes, Seth too choked to speak. I just can't cope with that, hence, blubbing like a bitch.

So te next series isn't till early next year....god damn that.

Happy Birthday

Doctor Who is 41 years old today!!! To celebrate, here is a promo picture for the new series which is due to be shown on BBC1 on Saturday evenings, starting in March 2005.

It rewinds and pauses and everything!!!

We got Sky+ yesterday... It is a brilliant brilliant beautiful (well actually no) but definitely brilliantly superbly fantastic thing. So the rationale behind the purchase we got rid of the movie channels saving £9 a month leaving the Sports channels, so we pay nothing extra a month for it... so still saving £9 a month, we then pay £150ish for the box and £60 for a man to come and put it in. So £210, which will be paid for in..well no time really, think of the videotape we are saving, and that £9 a month.... it's a bargain really.

So first thing I did when I got in was read the book, well some of it. Then pressed buttons on the remote until I worked out what I was supposed to do. After I programmed it to record the OC for me. I watche Music TV for a bit.... it's a bit like having your first ever CD player. "look it'll go back to the beginning of the track, that easily and you can listen to it again". I watch November Rain 4 times before I got bored. AND then you can pause it. So there was this bit in the video that I have always though... what was that? y'know the bit where she is in the coffin and youn can only see half of her face.... can't say I still understand what it is about but I paused it and it was totally clear.... well I still don't understand it but you could see properly.

It's absolutely fantastic. And today I recorded the 3:30 repeat of the OC. I'm still trying to catch up, although I am watching the end off the series at the same time as the first which I suppose spoils the effect a bit. Anyway I decided to record it a second before I went out of the door and didn't have to search the whole house for a tape that doesn't already have stuff on. I love it. It's especially good if, like me, you just want to watch something and not keep it because you can just delete it straight after you have watched it. AND if you record something you can fast forward through the adverts at 30x the speed so like a second or something. £210 well spent.

Thought I'd better post something

So.. Ithought I had better post something cos it's been a while...not sure what this will end up being... we ordered Sky plus today.... woo hoo! There's an offer where you get £50 off the box if you order it online. That kind of left us with a dilemma though because you pay £60 for installation.. you have to..even though clearly doesn't require a bloke to do it for you... or you pay £10 a month and you keep your old box and can have it in another room. We decided not to do that. We don't really need sky in two rooms. We scarcely watch telly anyway, but keep missing programmes hence the need for Sky+. Anyways that's about all of the excitement for the time being. Just thought I would update you.

I'm not allowed to put this post on

Andrew says that I shouldn't put a post on here about mass murderers who get away with it by killing themselves in the process by lets say for example; parking on a level crossing. So I won't.

Wow! It's Beautiful

I wrote this post while I was at work but obviously couldn't post it then... well I could have but it would be a bit blatant.....

It's 16:30 and I am still at work, but I am distracted. The sky is gorgeous pale blue with pale candyfloss pink soft clouds, and in front of these is the black silhouette of leafless tree branches. It's blinking gorgeous mate. If it was a bit colder those pink clouds would surely be full of lovely soft snow.

I love in the mornings too, when the sun isn't up properly yet and it is just hitting the sides of the trees making them look warm, but also kind of eerie.

16:40 - I probably should get on with some work. I am working in between, I've not been sat here for 10 minutes pondering the sky. It's now a dark grey with black cracks where the tree branches criss cross, and a big black bird just swooped across the top branches......Wow that is mighty pretty. Sometimes I like the winter.

Spinal Tap

So just watched Spinal Tap for the second time.. well the first time all the way through. The first time we watched (some of) it I thought it was terrible, and I'm thinking it was becasue I was expecting too much of it. This time round I really liked it...although I have to say it didn't grip my attention, but then I don't think it is that sort of film. So my advice if you've not seen it already and you are intending to watch it. Don't expect too much to begin with. That makes it sound as though it is crap... it isn't but I think we had expectations of it being something it wasn't. At least I didn't fall asleep this time!

So today I have been wondering a little bit....

if a person's heart stops have they officially died? This lead me to thinking how long does you heart have to have stopped for it to have officially stopped?

The Lunatic Is On The Grass

Wow...how spooky was that!!

Finally, on Halloween, I got round to testing out one of the all time rock n roll myths....Playing Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" while watching "The Wizard Of Oz"....the rumor being that they go together as an alternative soundtrack....and it works.....kind of.

They way it works is you put your copy of "Dark Side Of The Moon" in your CD player and get it paused at the start. Then set your DVD of "Wizard Of Oz" going and set the CD going just after the MGM lion does it's third roar.

Now having done this it is my opinion that this was not a deliberate act by Pink Floyd....however some of the coincidences are mindblowing....I'll not spoil it for anyone who wants to try it....I may put down some of what I find some other time.

It is definitely worth trying
