Stop messing with me....

So this weekend...well starting Friday morning when I set out for work I noticed that the tub with plants in outside our front door had been kicked over. I picked it up and pushed the soil back in, locked the front door and walked around the car to go to work, only to fine a 3-4 foot fir tree on the drive?! So not having a great lot of time to ponder what exactly to do with a tree that is not yours but is on your property in unexplained circumstances, I picked it up and flung it on the lawn, so that I could get to work in something resembling a reasonable hour.

I reversed off the drive ad set off down the street noticing broken plant pots in the road (as a good driver probably should?!), I though, ah that'll be where it is from I will pop round tonight if they haven't already claimed it back. Anyway, got home tree still there, Andrew had put it in a spare pot out of the garage to protect the root (after I flung it on the lawn in the morning, ooops). So I went round to the house and explained that I assumed it was theirs what with the broken pots and that they could come and get it if the wanted it (typing that it sounds as if I was slightly rude, I wasn't). The bloke didn't know if it was his tree, frankly he was a little docile, he said that they did have a tree but theirs was in a pot?! Hmm. I'm thinking not too difficult to remove a tree from a pot, that doesn't make it a different tree. I left it.

We went to bed and I got up on Saturday morning to find that the tree had gone, and the pot remained. Which obviously is good, you may think, but no. The pot was still there but it had a different plant in it that had clearly been ripped out of next door's garden. Anyway I just left it there all day trying not to acknowledge it in public. I have to admit I did find it extremely amusing. Not sure I would be if it was my plant that had been ripped out though. Anyway we left the plant there all day and over night. The next morning I had to be up extremely early so I went out and put the plant back in its rightful place and took the pot away. No more plants have appeared.

Now I know you are wondering what happened to the tree, or like me you might not care as long as it is nothing to do with you anymore. Apparently, according to my other neighbour it was seen on top of someone’s car…. Glad that wasn’t me. I hate cleaning my car.
